Once again the Rooks Heath year 13 students were lucky to be able to take part in the particle physics master class.

The day followed the format of last year’s course so see the following link for more information about the lectures.

The day started with a lecture given by Professor Bill Scott on the fundamentals of particle physics.
The picture above right shows the results that told particle physicists that the Higgs Boson had probably be found.
The above picture on the left shows the year 13 getting ready for their tour of ISIS. The ear pieces are for the students to hear the commentary as there is a lot of noise. The above picture on the right is a model of ISIS.

First of all I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to
ask if you don’t mind. I was interested to know how you center
yourself and clear your mind prior to writing. I’ve had a hard time clearing my thoughts
in getting my ideas out. I do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost simply just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Thanks!

I don’t really know. It helps that I am reporting other people’s work and not my own.
